It's in caps cos it's IMPORTANT.

More and more spammers are using hotmail.com when they register here. I've been leaving it off the ban list because we could potentially get real people signing up with a hotmail address, but I'm fed up with the volume of people I'm having to delete so it's now on there.

If the usual places suffer a collapse and this place gets busy again I'll re-activate it, or if you have a hotmail address and decide you want to sign up to post here too, PM me at the usual place and I'll unban it so you can register, then ban it again.

You make a valid point.

But they make the memberlist and front page untidy.

I have to check every application for membership in case it's a real person anyway so while I'm in there looking I might as well delete them.

Look at it as an opportunity to beat OCD.

Maybe just leave this forum open for anyone to post and introduce themselves...spam shouldn't really post here if no one else is posting...I dunno. :/

I guess word filters wouldn't hardly work either.

I am in another forum like this where we get about 5 spam sign ups a day, we leave one forum open there, and they leave us alone...but I do remember what happened here.

Maybe what we should do is have a sign up announcement for prospective users. Tell them they have to sign up with a default name like "Tesco_Cookie1" , after that, you can change their name to whatever they want. Then we don't have to pay attention to any other new sign-ups.
